Well Hello Again blogger friends.

I just realized it has been a month since I last posted anything.  Wow!  Time sure flies.  What have I been doing?  I am so glad that you asked.  Jazzy and I took on a huge project this time.  I really tested all our skills.  We sculpted a bard doll out of polymer clay and then costumed him.  He is clay, fabric, leather and wire armature. The base was created from a slice of a felled Aspen tree and a piece of driftwood from our yard- (Do not ask me how lucky I feel.  That piece of driftwood could not have been anymore perfect.)  Now before I show you the picture you must understand a couple of things.  1.  this is our first sculpture and 2.  we do not know how to sew. (thank goodness for liquid stitch)

Here he is:

I started this project from Dawn Schiller’s book Faemaker.  I thought I was going to make Fetch. Then I purchased Wendy Froud’s Dvd Making a Faery figure and Creating a character figure.  As I sculpted, I used techniques from both artists as well as others on the net and next thing I knew, I had Zephan the Bard.

I hope you like him.  Jazz and I sure had fun making him.

Hello again.  I hope that your week is going well.  We are halfway through. WE CAN DO IT!

This last weekend I purchased a tutorial from Clay Lessons.  This website provides great lessons on working with polymer clay.  Some of the lessons are free. Always a bonus.  So anywho, I saw one called Hidden flowers.  It was reasonably priced at $6.00. So not one to turn down a good deal 🙂  I bought it.  And here is what I made with the technique.

If you click on any of the photos they will enlarge and become a slide show.

The pictures really do not do these justice.  You simply cannot see the metallic sheen that gives these depth and shine.  I need to work on my camera techniques.  You know in my “spare time”. LOL

There are so many possibilities with this technique.  I can’t wait to explore some more. In fact… alas I must go to work…sigh.

Talk to soon.

Happy Monday All.

Our local Polymer clay guild had our 1st Annual retreat.  It was two days of claying, playing, eating, learning and fun.  We are a fairly new guild, but we are growing all the time.

Here are some of the beads that I worked on while there.  These were made from a cane I made from Sarah Shriver’s Big Bead Kaleidoscope cane workshop last year.

These are just some beads I made for fun.  The one on the left was a joint effort by my friend Laura Schiller and myself.

I am pretty pleased with this one.  It is two sided and completely hollow- so though it looks big, and it is (1 3/4 inches,) it is very light.

I like how this one turned out as well.

I have no idea how I am going to turn these into jewelry- that is the part I don’t really enjoy.

Oh one more photo- this is the bead I made at the Sarah Shriver workshop mentioned above.  I donated it to our polymer clay guild auction to raise money for new library materials.  It went for over 40.00 dollars.  I was shocked! and more than a little flattered.

This one was probably 3 1/2 inches long but made from sculpey ultra light.  It is also very lightweight.Sorry for the photo heavy blog and as always thanks for looking.

Jazz sends his regards

Wendy

Beads from Arabesque Cane

Hey Guys!  Thanks for coming back.  That wasn’t such a long wait was it?

Without further ado:

and here is a close up of the main bead:

I still need to string these beads and make a necklace from them.  Making Jewelry is not what I love to do but I do like these beads and I learned a lot while making them so I would like to finish them, so to speak.

Polymer clay is such a fun medium.  There is so much that you can do with it. I am constantly amazed by the different things that you can make. So much that I find myself rushing through projects so that I can learn the next step or even next technique.

I am realizing that I must slow down and take my time.  Enjoy every step and do the very best work that I can, because it really shows in the finished project.  For those of you that know me personally, I can hear you laughing because I am not known for my patience.

I am going to try to focus on every project and treat it as though it is a gift for someone else. I hope that this will allow me to create better quality things, be it beads, canes, eggs whatever.  The funny thing is, when I make cards I do not have this problem.  I am slow as dirt.

Does anyone else do this too?

Jazz says he doesn’t mind when I rush, just means less time to wait for dinner.

Thanks for looking.

We’re back with some fun little beads

Well Helllloooo again my litlle bloggy friends.  I have missed you.  Jazz and I have been super busy with polymer clay.  Everyday I mean to sit down and blog but I start messing with the clay and next thing you know it’s bedtime.

But over the next couple of days I do have some fun things to show you.

Today I am going to post a few fun beads that I made using scrap clay and my extruder. These are called Jupiter bead and you use scrap clay and dry scrap clay to make them.  My clay ended up not being very dried out so I didn’t quite get the look I was going for, (if you see the parts that have a ragged type of look to it, dry clay is creating that and I hoped for a little more of it) but I think that they are fun anyhow.

These three were done the same way but with dried pearl clay.  They are prettier in person, I promise!

Tomorrow I will post a cane I build using Jana Roberts-Benzon’s arabesque caning technique.  She is really amazing. Click on her name and check out her AWESOME stuff.  I just took a  laser cut workshop from her and will post the pendant I made later in the week.  As well as some of her fabulous stuff for some yummy eye candy!

That’s it for today.  Jazzy says he hopes you have a two bone weekend!!

Hey ya’ll, Jazzy here.

Momma has bribed me with doggie delights if I post this  polymer clay egg for her.  She is working so I held out for three treats before I gave in.

She  used Bettina Welker’s tutorial to make the sheet of clay used to cover this egg.  She doesn’t like it as  much as Bettina’s bracelet, but I think it turned out kinda fun.

Please click on the link above for a full tutorial so that you can make your own pixelated cane.

Well I am off to collect my reward.  Ooh I hope it’s the chicken strips….

Good Morning!

I thought you might like to see what I did with my kaleidoscope cane from yesterdays post.  I used the slices to cover an egg.  Yep, it’s a real egg.  I blew out the egg, dried it and covered it in clay and baked it.  Please don’t look to close as I am still learning/floundering to figure out how to line everything up. Anyway, here it is:

Thank you for looking.

Well HELLO!!!    Happy Friday!!!!!  WOO HOO!

Today I am posting the kaleidoscope canes that I made using a tutorial by my good friend Laura Schiller.  She is a fabulous egg artist as well as polymer clay artist and overall swell gal.  She has been doing polymer clay creations as well as egg art for many years.  She has been featured many times in the  polymer clay magazines.  AND in 2009 her egg was actually selected to be hung on the White House Christmas tree. Here it is Which you can and should check out here.  But she recently released a tutorial on how to make a kaleidoscope cane and I used it to make these:

I had tons of fun making these.  If you are interested in making kaleidoscope canes with polymer clay I highly recommend these.  They are only $10.00!! You can find them on her blog Lauraseggs.com.

Thanks for poppin’ in.  I am off to make more polymer clay schtuff!

Here are a few of the fun projects folks made at the RMPCG polymer clay retreat this year.  Our theme was 3-d projects.

I went with a  miniature fruit and vegetable stand.  So far all I have is the stand and the vegetables.  I will continue to work on it.  It was quite fun.

Here’s a couple of closeupsand in no particular order:

Leone, Patty Moore (3), then next two are Peg , Lucille,Tracy, Amy, Janice, Peg again, Bev, Laura, Carolyn,Tina, Lucille, Kathy, the last three were not done at the retreat they were done for a Zentangle demo at our guild meeting by Gayle.

The horse sculpture by Tina was inspired by Bryan Tubbs out of Arizona.

Thanks for looking- I better get back to Jazzy he is very miffed that he was left behind while I was away.  Doesn’t seem to matter that he got to have a sleepover with his “friend”  Sissy.  Thanks again Maureen!!!!

Welcome to Jazzydoodle Designs

I started this blog because my spoiled little companion got tired of me waking her from her nap to look at what I created. And frankly, her response of “not as cute as I am…can I have a treat?” was not very helpful nor gratifying.

I hope you find some enjoyment, knowledge or just plain relief from your boredom while looking.

So now I am a blogger with a dogger.
