In this two part series, I color Rachel Mintz Bunny with a kite. You can find the image in this online book or in this book where you can print the images on any paper in any size. These images make great cards. Or you can purchase an actual coloring book here. Either way you can’t go wrong. These images are so stinkin’ cute!

In part one I explore using Mungyo Soft Pastels to make a soft cloud background. In part two, I focus on coloring the image using Caran D’ Ashe Pablo colored pencils.

Good Morning!

Today I would like to share with you a couple of cards that I made using Jennifer McGuire’s water coloring with stamps tutorial.

Well, I guess I do not have a picture of the other card I made with this technique.  Bummer, I forgot to take one before giving it away. It was done in blues and was a birthday card.

Altenew Persian Motif

I just love this stamp set.  You can find it here. And I love how the Pearl embossing powder sets off the whole image.  It is subtle in real life, but I messed about with the angle so that you could see it on camera.

As always Jazz and I appreciate your visit to our little blog.

Hope your week is fantastic!

Hey gang,

Hope you all are enjoying this fabulous fall weather.  Here in Colorado it is absolutely gorgeous.  Mt Meeker and Pikes PeakHere is the view from my neck of the woods. Mt. Meeker at an elevation of 13,911 and Pikes Peak at 14,111.

But anyway…

I found this tutorial from Catherine Pooler.  If you have not checked her out, you should.  She hosts Stamp Nation.  It is an online group that has hundreds of card making tutorials that you can join for a small fee or just check out her blog as she has tons of stuff there too.

I loved how simple these were to make and how different they all looked simply by using different colors.

Good Morning!! Hope that this finds you enjoying your weekend.  I can’t believe that it is already the end of November.  Where has the year gone?

Today’s images are especially fun ones.  I love em.  Though I don’t know why anyone would want to shoot our sweet and loving Corinne with an arrow. (giggle)Nov challenge open

nov challenge frontI used a diamond gate fold that I found on Splitcoaststampers.  You can find the tutorial here.  (The small clothespins are just to hold the card closed for the photo.)

I used The Paper Studio Affinity papers.  The die is from Spellbinders Fantastic Flourish two.

For those that asked, the retreat was AWESOME!  I had such a good time.  Miss Betty was an amazing hostess.  The house was perfect, the jacuzzi warm and the wine was tasty.  Although it was not my most productive weekend, I met some fabulous gals that I hope to see again at the next one.

Jazzy sends a big hello!

Hugs,

Wendy

Digital Stamps Motion Tutorial in Microsoft Word

Motion Tutorial Zlatoena captain bunnyclose up of captain bunnyThis is a tutorial that will give you the effect of motion in your cards.  If you have a rubber stamp, you can simply stamp, reposition, stamp, reposition and stamp again without reinking your stamp and Voila!  However, if you have a digi stamp you want to use, it can be a little more difficult and I was stumped as to how to achieve the same effect.  I do not have photoshop so I wanted to use Microsoft Word. So I asked my facebook friends at SimplyBstamps and googled my butt off and this is what I came up with.  If you have a better way, please feel free to let me know and I will do an update as I am NO EXPERT.  So here goes:

First select you image and insert it into your word document three times. I am using a cute bunny captain image from a gal I found on etsy.  The name she goes by is Zlatoena.  Check her out she has some awesome images.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Then you want to be able to move them so you will select the image and right click on it.  You will then click on Wrap text and choose square.  This will free you image and you can now move it anywhere on the page.  Do this for all three images.

wrap text-square

Next you want to make all of your images the same size and a workable size so click on format picture up at the top and on the right hand side you will see horizontal and vertical sizes.  Type in the size that you want.  I choose 3.25 for the largest size, which is the horizontal one (changed 6 to 3.25).  It automatically reduces the other side proportionately.resizeNext I decided to lighten two of the images.  Select one of the three pictures and click on picture format and on the left hand side you see Colors and a triangle- the triangle is a drop down menu.  Click on itcolorThis is what you will see:recolor optionsFor my middle image, I selected the one that is on the bottom left- tan.  This is what my images look like now- one original and one lighter.  tan imageFor the third and lightest image you do the same thing. Select your image, click on picture format, select drop down color image but this time I selected washout.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis is what they look like now:three altered imagesSo now you move them in a row but as you can see the top image is covering the other images.blocked imagesIf you select the middle one and right click.  You can send image to the back. Do this again for the lightest image as well.send to the backThis is what it looks like now:sent backNow the main image is showing everything but it is covering up the back images.  So to fix this we will need to alter the two darkest images.  Click on the darkest image and click on format picture and to the far left you will see remove background.  Click on it.remove backgroundThis is what it may look like:remove background screen shotThe only thing that will remain if we “remove the background” is the little piece of white that you see.  To fix that sometimes if you simply pull the small white square on the sides toward the image it will color some of the image white.  But this image did not so I had to do it manually. Up at the top on the right you will see mark areas to keep.  Click on this.  Now when you click on an area in your image it will turn it white.  If you click on two points and draw a line in between them it will turn large sections white.  Do this till all things you want are white.areas to keepOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAsee how I drew a line between points and the whole ear became white. click on areas to keepWhen you have it the way you want it click on the keep changes.  Now the “white square background” will be gone.keep changesDo this for the middle image as well and this is how it will look:all three doneNow you can move these around until you like the composition.  I actually decided that I liked the lighter ones in front so I changed it.  Now I want to “group” these so that they will move as one image.  So you select an image and hold down the control key and select the other two images so it should look like this:

all selected for groupingNow right click and select group.GroupedNow it should look like this:image of the groupNow this image was larger than I wanted so I selected the image and clicked on Picture format at the top.  To the far side is the same horizontal and vertical sizing.  But if you put in the size now it will only adjust that side- it will not do the other side proportionately.  So you must click on the small size spot below the numbers to alter the image.  This is also true if you try to resize by the corners.  resize final imageNow that you clicked on the size button you will get this screen:lock aspect ratioClick on the Lock ratio aspect button.  Then you can put in the size that you would like and it will adjust the other side automatically.

You are now ready to move this image to where you want it, print it up and color away.

There is a great tutorial on how to color the image to produce the illusion of motion.  Her name is Ruby Montes and she was a guest designer for Simply Challenged Challenges on Dec 4.  Her card and tutorial are awesome.  Here is a link to her tutorial for coloring.

Hope this helps and is not confusing.  If you have questions you can contact me and I would be happy to help or clear up something (if I can).

Thanks for looking

Puzzling Family

Hey Gang,

I want to start today with a photo of the gorgeous sunrise I was greeted with on my way to work today.  The sun was so red and HUGE.  This picture really doesn’t do it justice. But WOW huh? ( I did absolutely no photoshopping, this is straight from the camera.)

The other little ditty I have for you is a project I started a while back.  I was feeling like my paper craft friends thought I had abandoned them, so I decided to finish it.

Here’s how to make one of your own.

Use a children’s 25 piece puzzle that you can find at any dollar store.

Flip it over.  I used the back as my canvas because I am lazy and would have had to gesso the front due to the slickness and pattern.

Number each piece.  Trust me, you will thank me for this advice later when the pieces get mixed up.

Pick out paper to use as your background. I used patterned paper from Echo Park- A walk in the park.   You could use anything though, even fabric.

You will trace the pieces on paper and cut them out.  Two helpful tips.  1. You need to make sure that you have the piece on the paper the right way.  Meaning the paper has two sides to it and so does the puzzle piece. So you need to make sure that the brown side of the puzzle piece (the side the paper will be glued on to) is facing down and the paper side you want to show is also facing down.  This way when you trace your lines and cut them out they will not show and the pattern that you like will be correct.  *ask me how I know this.  Tip 2.  Cut your piece with a little allowance on all sides.  If you cut your piece too close,  the brown will show and you will get really mad and stomp your feet. (well at least that is what I did, maybe you have better self control.) Think of the extra as cookies- its always better to have more cookies, right?

Print out your family photos using a thumbprint layout or custom size to about 1 inch by 1.5 inches. Unless you have fewer photos and then you may want to go with a bigger size.

Fiddle with how you like the photos with the papers etc.

Glue the papers onto the pieces.  I used Tombow mono multi, in the cool triangle bottle, but you can use what ever glue you prefer.  After they have dried,  take a nail file- you know the coarse ones for acrylic nails- and file the paper off the edges of the piece.  This creates a nice clean edge.  I chose to darken the edges of each piece with Tim Holtz walnut brown ink, using a sponge dauber.  I felt that this added a unity to all the pieces tying them all together.

I then put the puzzle back together and played with the details. Originally I was going to have one person for each piece.  But then I found the center sentiment “it doesn’t matter where you go, it’s whose beside you that counts”and decided to put the couples closer together and to leave room by the singles so that I can add to it as they marry. I mounted each photo on brown card stock, once again to tie them all together.

I chose three metal hearts to also add unity to the piece. I added three butterflies I cut out using a sizzix die and patterned paper.  I added four rhinestone gems because I was feeling frisky.

I put my mom and her brothers and sisters on thick pop dots, their five kids on slightly less raised dots and their spouses and kids flat.  I felt the the depth added to the overall look of the piece. This photo better shows what I am talking about.

I then glued the entire thing to a piece of card stock.

Overall I am very pleased with the results.  I love that there is so much room for exploration.  Go wild and make one too.  If you do please share your results with me.

Hello again.  I hope that your week is going well.  We are halfway through. WE CAN DO IT!

This last weekend I purchased a tutorial from Clay Lessons.  This website provides great lessons on working with polymer clay.  Some of the lessons are free. Always a bonus.  So anywho, I saw one called Hidden flowers.  It was reasonably priced at $6.00. So not one to turn down a good deal 🙂  I bought it.  And here is what I made with the technique.

If you click on any of the photos they will enlarge and become a slide show.

The pictures really do not do these justice.  You simply cannot see the metallic sheen that gives these depth and shine.  I need to work on my camera techniques.  You know in my “spare time”. LOL

There are so many possibilities with this technique.  I can’t wait to explore some more. In fact… alas I must go to work…sigh.

Talk to soon.

Well HELLO!!!    Happy Friday!!!!!  WOO HOO!

Today I am posting the kaleidoscope canes that I made using a tutorial by my good friend Laura Schiller.  She is a fabulous egg artist as well as polymer clay artist and overall swell gal.  She has been doing polymer clay creations as well as egg art for many years.  She has been featured many times in the  polymer clay magazines.  AND in 2009 her egg was actually selected to be hung on the White House Christmas tree. Here it is Which you can and should check out here.  But she recently released a tutorial on how to make a kaleidoscope cane and I used it to make these:

I had tons of fun making these.  If you are interested in making kaleidoscope canes with polymer clay I highly recommend these.  They are only $10.00!! You can find them on her blog Lauraseggs.com.

Thanks for poppin’ in.  I am off to make more polymer clay schtuff!

Welcome to Jazzydoodle Designs

I started this blog because my spoiled little companion got tired of me waking her from her nap to look at what I created. And frankly, her response of “not as cute as I am…can I have a treat?” was not very helpful nor gratifying.

I hope you find some enjoyment, knowledge or just plain relief from your boredom while looking.

So now I am a blogger with a dogger.
