Color with me in Hannah Karlzons Daydreams Squirrel Color Along. I use Inktense and Polychromos colored pencils. Techniques I cover: how to color a pearl, modified bokeh background, how to color a gold crown, how to color a glowing gemstone and a decent gold filagree frame.
I used Prismacolor colored pencils and distress oxides in this Millie Marotta Island Escape color along. This color along is a combination of me chatting, some techniques being shared and some silent well, (music only) parts.
I used distressed ink for the background. I used Antique Linen, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo on the top with a small finger dauber and Weathered wood and Lost Shadow on the bottom.
Prismacolors used:
Cream, Sand, Peach Beige, GoldenRod, Mineral Orange, Light Umber, Dark Brown, All the french greys, black, Indigo Blue, Slate Grey, Jade Green, Grey Green Light, and 70% cool grey.
I use only 12 Inktense and three NeoColor 2 and a whole lot of shimmer and bling on this royal beetle. I walk you through my process and thoughts the whole way! I had so much fun and so will you!
Products used in the color along I am an amazon affiliate, if you use my link it will not cost you anymore than the original price but my channel will make a small commission. I appreciate the support.
Oil pastels in a coloring book? Yes it can be done. In this video I show you a timelapse of the oil pastel background and then I color these sassy birds using Polychromos colored pencils. I also answer 50 questions about myself with the #TMI Tag.

Kimberly has been such a great supporter of the channel. She is always encouraging. She watches all the videos, likes the videos and comments, She also interacts on facebook and talks about the channel on social media. So I asked Kimberly to select a page to color and choose the pencils she would like me to use in a color along. She chose this page. I hope she is happy with how it turned out.
Can you use watercolor pencils in coloring books? What about on Amazon Paper?
The answer is YES! I use 3 dollar watercolor pencils in Creative Haven Country Gardens Coloring book.
In this episode of Wind/Wine down Wednesday, I explore watercolor pencils in adult coloring books. The various types of watercolor pencils, different methods to use them, how to blend them and of course how to use them in our adult coloring books- Yup, even the ones with Amazon paper. I do a project at the end with dollar store watercolor pencils in Country Gardens by Creative Haven. With no sealant and no bleed through.
There are only 24 pencils and they are not named or numbered so I have not listed them.
I also colored this cutie in Matchstick Mouse Floral coloring book. I use Albrecht Durer colored pencils in this one.
I will only post the images I haven’t posted to the blog.
I colored these from Thomas Kinkade’s Disney book. I like that they show you a colored image. I then try to duplicate it. I struggled with the dark values. But looking at these without the reference photos they look alright. Prisma, Arrtx and SouColor colored pencils.
This one is from Home Sweet Home by Creative Haven- It is a Teresa Goodridge book. I love her stuff. This one came out pretty bright. Cue the circus music… Colored with Arrtx colored pencils
The last one is from Kerby Rosane’s Alien World. I used NeoColor 2’s and Black Widow colored pencils. I applied Nuvo Clear gloss from their Aqua Shimmer line on the wings. I also used Sparkle Pop Silver gel pen around them. I had MANY mishaps on this page. I used too much water and not enough neo color 2. I tried to use a baby wipe to blend when there was not enough pigment down. I dripped the nuvo glimmer on the page and had to wipe it up. I filmed it all so I could do a color along but I feel it would be a what not to do video LOL So instead here is the finished page alone. I probably will use parts of the video to explain what not to do, then show how to do it.
Anyway I do explain in the video so be sure to check it out, I appreciate you all!
You may remember this artist from The Flower Year. Her newest book Beautiful Planet is a lovely book with thick white pages. It is very large 9.25 x 12.25 but inside you can find two page spreads, one page intricate pages, as well as pages with vignettes and individual images to color such a page with butterflies. There are even a few pages with one big flower or animal to color. From the sea shore to the mountains this book has it all.
